Statement of Sayo (4 Dec 47). 29, was a Sgt. Maj. in the Oita Kempei Tai. On 5 May 1945, received a call that an American plane had crashed near Taketa Machi, and he, Maj Shibao, 2nd Lt Kamei IJeda, Sgt Maj Okada and Sgt Maj Aibe, and .several soldiers took a .train there to search for them. About 2000, three Prisoners wore brought Into the Oita KT Hq, at which time Sayo, Maj Chinkai Yanamura (Chief), a warrant officer, and an interpreter questioned the Prisoners separately.

There was a 1st Lt, a Cpl and a Sgt, both EM, wounded, one a rather serious head wound, the other a chest wound, evidently not too bad, he walked, Sayo is certain that the three men were Kevin S. Watkins, William R. Fredericks Teddy J. Poncska. Sayo believes he has heard the name "Decker" (Shingledecker) and Williams (William Fredericks: Robt B. Williams). On being shown a picture of Ponezka, he states it looks very familiar the EM with the head wound.
