Rebuttal Evidence (Exhibit 3478 for identification)

Contributors
Refers to IPS Document 3262, Exhibit 3478 for identification, "a directive from teh chief of Naval Affairs Bureau dated 19 October 1942, concerning the evacuation of 1,000 POWs from Macassar to Sasebo." States that it should be use as rebuttal evidence since "it attacks the veracity of OKA by showing that he did in fact issue such directive in spite of his denial on the witness stand" and that "OKA as Chief of Naval Affairs Bureau did in fact exercise supervisory contorl over POWs." Concludes that "both exhibit 3477 adn 3478 are essential since the former document links OKA with a specific prosecution witness who testified as to atrocities at Ofuna POW camp, and the latter document links OKA with ship transportation of POWs, ordering POWs to work in doc yards and factories."
