Tatsuo ITEZONO, Testimony, PP-122, when questioned about the 12 August 1945 execution, "2nd Lt. OHNO of the Legal Section then went to the edge of the grave to be the second executioner" -----"The guard left and only the American flyer and OHNO remained by the grave. OHNO then swung his sword upward and on the downward stroke miss the flyer. OHNO missed the flyer's neck and hit him on the back of the head. It did not kill the flyer and he fell toward OHNO and lay moaning on the ground. WAKO ran up to the prisoner and he and OHNO helped the prisoner to sit on his haunches again. The while the prisoner was sitting then WAKO showed OHNO how to use the sword. The WAKO, returning to his former position and OHNO took another stroke at the prisoner's head. This time the head was half-severed and with a low grunt the prisoner fell into the grave. |
