26, born and spent first 14 years (to 1937) in California; was drafted in Japanese Army in 1943; received intelligence training in Tokyo; was assigned to WAH about 1 May 1945 as a PFC, where he monitored English broadcasts under Lt. NAKAO; worked with Tamotsu OKAMURA.

Captured enemy airmen were held in the stockade for Prisoners hack of main WAH building. Someone told Defendant about the 20 June execution; read of the KIU incident in the papers, heard of further executions at the end of the war. Defendant never interro gated any flyers; OKAMURA did several times. It was common knowledge that flyers were not in the same status as other PWs.

As Defendant passed by the stockade, could see the Prisoners if they were at the window noted one man who appeared to be bandaged.

Defendant then recalls that before 19 June Defendant was called to an interrogation where NAKAO OKAMURA and one other staff Officer were present with a Prisoner. Defendant merely listened. The interrogation lasted 30 - 40 minutes. The Prisoner appeared to be crippled, but Defendant noticed no bandages. The Prisoner said he came from China, was an Officer. The staff Officer was a major.
