Chief of Legal Investigation Sec. of Demob, since 15 June 46. From 14 Nov 45 to then Chief of Legal Bureau of 1st Demob. Lt. Gen. at end of war. Lt. Gen. Fujii left office 14 Nov 45.

Defendant attended meeting of Commending Generals about 15 Nov 45. Minister of War cautioned Commanding General to report the truth of atrocities. NISHIHARA said he did not know of atrocities at Western Army, since Commanding General only after end of war.

In about Dec 45, Defendant met with YOSHIZUMI, INADA and perhaps TSUBOSHIMA to discuss Western Army Headquarters report. Defendant believes it was then decided that since the documents were incorrect, it would be well to send someone to investigate. OKI was sent in late Dec, Defendant went about 3-4 Jan 46 for two days. Defendant did not know the Hiroshima report was incorrect until about May 47 when he read of the Kyushu Imperial University case.
