DELETION OR RELEASE REQUEST FORM __19 August 1947______ (date) Memorandum: FROM: Prosecution TO: CRD, LS. 1. Request the (d̶e̶l̶e̶t̶i̶o̶n̶) (release) of NISHIHARA, KANJI_____ (Name as used on memorandum) 2. Subject per (is) (i̶s̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶) interned at Sugamo Prison (under the name of NISHIHARA_________). (Name under which interned) 3. (There is a variance in the spelling of the name as used on the LS Apprehension Memorandum and the name under which he was interned. but both names refer to the same individual. 4. Reasons for the request for (d̶e̶l̶e̶t̶i̶o̶n̶) (release): Subject became Commanding General of Western Army in October 1945, after the atrocities in issue were perpetrated, and as such cannot be held therefor. While there is some evidence that he participated in a plan of concealment of said atrocities, he is not to be tried in the case for which he was obviously apprehended.
