Statement of Murata (3 Dec 47). 1st Lt Legal Officer at WA Hq. 1st lit Maekawa was an Army doctor in WA 'Hq Medical Section. On 22 or, 23 June, 1945, about 1300, at the Legal Section office, with Wako a d perhaps 1st Lt Yoshida,, and 2nd Lt Ono, present he was talking wth Wako whose desk was next to Murata, about the 19 June airraid, the burning of the Fukuoka Hotel and a dispute over quarters there.

Maekawa then said, "recently I saw the most terrible thing that I have seen since I was born," then went on to tell about the autopsies at KIUon wounded flyers. He said they were told that they were going to be taken to a hospital to be treated for their wounds, that autopsies were,performed on the live flyer or flyers. The flyer was told he was being given anesthetic prior to being treated for his wounds. Before the effect wore off, the autopsy was performed.

Later, when confronted by Tait, Maekawa said he head this from someone else, but told it as if he had seen it to make it more interesting.
