FURUKAWA, TOMOJI [ Marginal Note: (KIU)]

Statement of Furukawa (20 June 1947) 33, tubercular, entered army 1936, a medical corpsman, made W.O., assigned to WAMS in May 1944, demobilized 30 November 1945. In January, Furukawa was a clerk in the pharmacy department; from early February until 20 May he was orderly to Yoshimura, then became ill, sent to Maeboru with wife for month, retired 19 June, wounded by bomb fragments, hospitalized, did not return to work until after the war.

Furukawa did most of Yoshimura's administrative work, concerning the transfer, assigning of medical personnel within WA, arranging for this personnel at meetings, administrative work as to Kaikosha Hospital, such as ordering and distributing medical supplies. Yoshimura was on the staff of Kaikosha Hospital.

Komori is an acquaintance of Furukawa, talked to him 20-30 times a week in the medical department, usually concerning medical supplies and equipment. During this period Komori talked to Yoshimura once or twice a day.

Only classified documents Furukawa read were concerned with mobilization.

Furukawa went to Horiuchi's office 5-6 times a day, saw him 3-4 times a day during April and May until 20 May. Furukawa saw Ishiyama at WAH 4-5 times during April and May, saw him go into Horiuchi's office 2-3 times.
