S/D (7-9 Oct 48 by Sartiano) S/M, Adj. Sec., WA from 1943. Adj. Sec. kept record of the Flyers and effects, recalls 29-31 interned, recognizes photos of some of Flyers. Procedure for releasing Prisoners: SATO would request KUSUMOTO, who in turn ordered GOIYAMA to release the Flyer, after which Adj. Section notifies LS. It would be usual for KUSUMOTO to notify JIN of the release of Flyers, believes KUSUMOTO could not release Flyers without consulting JIN. Reason for reporting to LS; it controlled barracks where Flyers kept. EGASHIRA, believes JIN or KUSUMOTO would be consulted before Flyers were released for execution. About 0830 about 10 August YUKINO told EGASHIRA The flyers would be sent, then told EGASHIRA to get a truck, and YUKINO took the Flyers out of the barracks, ITEZONO being there. EGASHIRA felt an execution was going to occur, since some of the POs mentioned Aburayama. About 1230 on their return YAMAMOTO made a karate motion for EGASHIRA, who thought he meant they wer4 killed by karate. EGASHIRA believes KUSUMOTO was required to notify JIN of release and execution of flyers. About 15 September a Hiroshima 2nd Lt. came for ashes of flyers. |
