ATIS Trans, of S/D (8 May 47) SATO said to Defendant that in the past B29 PCS' had "been sent to Tokyo, but no longer necessary to send the crew members there, and the army must dispose of them, that among them were many who would he sentenced to death by military tribunals for indiscriminate bombing, that he would like to punish them without trial, and w PI ease ask CG YOKOYAMA for his opinion on this matter." Defendant went immediately to YOKOYAMA's room, told him this, and asked if he would approve of such action. He thereupon replied: ”It would he all right to handle it that way.” Defendant returned to his room, told SATO that the CG had answered that that would he all right. |
