Statement of Sato - 420 - 25 Feb. 1947. Aihara received the prisoners and the reports relevant to the prisoners. Sato was responsible for the receipt and disposition of the prisoners and he in turn issued orders to Aihara who then turned them over to the Adjutant's Section for housing. Sato recalls that Aihara referred to the name Flambeck quite often. Before the first operation, Sato informed Aihara about the operations and told him to confer secretly with Komori as to the number of prisoners to be sent. On 22 or 23 May, Aihara supervised the entrucking of two prisoners, but did not go with them to KIU. At tha time he did warn the guards as to secrecy. The week after the first operation, ̶A̶i̶h̶a̶r̶a̶ Aihara informed Sato on the previous day, or in the morning of the second operation that three more prisoners were to be taken to KIU, then Aihara gave the guards a warning of secrecy once more. The third operation took place about 5, 6 or 7 June. Sato told Aihara the day prior to the operations to release a prisoner. Aihara joined Sato and Komori at KIU to witness the operation. At the 18 August meeting called by Fukushima, Aihara was possibly there. All parties agreed on the Hiroshima alibi. Yakumaru suggested that all divisions as to this intelligence. About September Aihara was sent to Hiroshima to arrange the details of the alibi in which the KIU victims were to have been destroyed by the atomic bomb. |
