Radio Message of 3 June 1947 (synopsis of statement) Smith’s plane crashed 20 mil. south of Kyushu 1 July 1945, picked up off Tokana Shima shore by Jap soldiers 2 July, was held headquarters there 2 days, then taken by boat to Kyushu (blindfolded, held in case, took 1 1/2 days train trip next day, interrogated 2 days, then transferred by train for 1 1/2 days to another headquarters where interrogated. Saw no other American Prisoners on Kyushu. |
