SHIOTSU, Yoshio [Marginal Note: (KIU) ] Statement of Shiotdu (14 Nov 47). 40, a Dr at First Surgery, KIU,from 1943 until June 1946, mostly engaged in experimental work on stomach cancer. Before 19 June 1945, Shitosu heard from someone in his Section that there had been experimental operations: on Prisoners. Shiotsu heard that Ishiyama, Torisu, and Hirao "performed operations on Americans and that Semba, Nogawa and Kubo wore present. That sea water was injected and in one case a whole stomach was removed. These Were performed in the Anatomy Section. In April or May 1945, Shiotsu attended a farewell party for Kori and Hino in the Drs’ mess hall at First Surgery from about 1800 to 2100. Mori and Hino sat on either side of Ishiyama, Torisu and Hirao on the other. Also present were Semba, Nogawa, Kubo, Morita, Mukai, Sha, possibly Tomoki Tashiro and Jiro Tashiro. Quite a few got drunk. Shiotsu didn't hear anything about Prisoners, but at one time he thinks he did hear someone in the Lab, say that Komori was going to bring Prisoners to the Lab, told him ho .should not attend the operations because it was a bad thing, Shiotsu believes this was after they started. |
