Statement of Sato (2 Dec 47). 55, a farmer. About 5 May 1945, in Minami Oguni Area, heard gunfire, saw several parachutes, joined n search party, heard two shots from a distance., wont there and saw that a fiver was killed, Sato helped bury him at 1630 at which.time his clothing had been removed. Ho had many shot wounds on his chest, with a large wound in front on the right side and below the lowest rib as if made with a sharp instru­ment.

From a photo, he states that Chas M. Kearns looks very much like the dead flyer. Sato heard from others that Tokihiro Sato and Iwashita shot him and that Asahi Otsuka later stabbed him. Sato did not sec it done.
