(Oki) Central Investigation Committee Report Relating to PWs - 23 Jan. 1946. (sent forward by Nishihara - Part 1) I. The report by Western District Demobilization Office to the local U.S. Authorities to the effect that 31 Allied Air Force Flight Personnel were sent to Tokyo on 18 August 1945 was a mistake. II. Of such personnel captured within the Western Military District, about 8 were killed on 20 June, approximately 8 on 12 August and approximately 15 on 15 August, by personnel of said district. III. Execution of Group 1: 20 June execution, within compound, brought about by 19 June airraid. IV. Execution of Group2: Under animosity of bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2nd group killed by WA personnel on a hill near the Aburayama Crematorium in the South West part of Fukuoka City, 21 August. V. Execution of Group 3: About 15 Flight personnel killed at Aburayama brought about by enmity and confusion of invasion. VI. Still inaccurate points as to number, names, and disposal of the bodies of the personnel, status of belongings, names of Headquarters personnel participating, details as to the executions, executioner, etc., thus, planned to make more detailed investigation with larger staff as to violating laws and regulations of the Japanese army. |
This book documents the legal proceedings of the December 1949 Khabarovsk trial in which twelve members of the Japanese Army's covert biological warfare Unit 731 were prosecuted for their war crimes.
