Statement of Nonaka (13 Nov 4-7). Nonaka is now 1st Asst to Tsutsumi, in Western Demob Liaison Office, began in Dec 45, is 43. Previously a civilian attached to the Army at the end of the War, in WAH Staff Section where he kept secret files. Nonaka now investigates Prisones of War operations. In December 1945, the work (Liaison) was split between Sato (field) and Yakumaru (office). Yakumaru quit about April 1946. Yamamoto took over, then Tsutsumi. Sato quit about July 1945, although absent much of the time before that.

In middle November 1945, Yakumaru ordered- Nonaka to Tokyo to get a report sent by WAH to the War Min, stating that Prisoners were killed in the Fukuoka airraid, at the PWIB, to see Major Takada, present a letter, which was addressed in the handwriting of Yakumaru.

Takada said that the OF ordered that nothing was to be taken from the PWIB, but showed him the report, which Nonaka thinks he copies, did write down all the names — 15 or 16.

Shortly after Sato went to Tokyo, returned with the paper, he said, which list of names Nonaka later copied. The first, Nonaka brought back Yakumaru tore up and threw in wastebasket, looked disgusted.

About January 1946, Sato had Nonaka make a list of American flyers, from a mimeographed list, which was’ then given to him. It looked like the Tokyo list. A few' weeks later, Sato gave Nonaka some memoranda which he gave back about April or May, having been given instructions not to let anyone see It, but Yakumaru did, Nonaka didn’t road them.

The copy that Nonaka made, he saw on Tsutsumi’s desk in October 1946, when a search was made for it, (list present at this interrogation). Nonaka asked Tsutsumi to look for it since SCAT, Legal Section asked for additional records of the flyers. Tsutsumi found it.

This list is in Nonaka's handwriting in pencil, was made for Sato in January 1946.

Although there is an additional notation of Sato and Capt. Killer.
