Statement of Hirao (28 August and ____ Sept 1947)

In 1945 at Ishiyama Surgery Clinic were Torisu, Mori, Nishimura (who left in early May 1945), Morimoto, who arrived from the front in early May 1945, Tashiro, Nogawa, Rin, Sha, Kubo. The above doctors treated patients.

On 17 May 1945, a Thursday, 1400 clinical lecture class was called off so that the operations could be held. Ishiyama told Hirao about noon that he should prepare for them and to inform Kuob, Mori, Seriba, Nogawa, and Tashiro, that Nogawa and Tashiro should prepare the heavier instruments, such as the lamp and tables at the Autopsy Section for the operations.

Hirao went to Autopsy Section with Mori and Torisu and perhaps Nogawa and Tashiro or perhaps the latter 2 went over previously and arranged the dissection tables.

1st series - 1st PW - Ishiyama stood to the right of the fly e r's chest; Miki handed him instruments. Across was Komori, Hirao to his left, Mori to Hirao's left, Torisu on the left of Ishiyama, Senba, Tashiro and Nogawa near the Priso­ner's head, one of them taking his pulse.

2nd series - Mori, Senba, Kubo and perhaps Tgshiro and Nogawa and Hirao went behind the section to await the Prisoners.

The operating lamp was held by either Tashiro or Nogawa during the 2n operation.

Statement of Senba (2 - 10 Sept 1947) 1st series - Nogawa and Tashiro were already in autopsy room when Senba arrived.

Ishiyama told Komori to take the 2 Prisoners to the dresing room and administer ether, which was done, with Seriba, Komori, Hirao, Tashiro, Nogawa, Suyama and 2 guards going with them.

Nogawa, Tashiro, and Senba believes, Suyama, strapped the 1st Prisoner to table. During the lung operation Tashiro, Nogawa, Kubo, Sha and Sato watched.

During the operation on the 2nd prisoner, Nogawa and perhaps Tashiro, Setbo and Tsutsui watched, with Suyama getting instruments fur Miki.

2nd series - Senba believes, Tashiro and Nogawa were already in Autopsy Room when he arrived.

Nogawa administered ether to the 2nd Prisoner, the Prisoner became weak, and Nogawa came to Ishiyama and said the Prisoner was ready to collapse, Ishiyama then telling Senba to inject some sea water into the Prisoner.

After 2nd series, Senba returned to 1st Surgery with Tashiro and Nogawa, he believes.

Statement of Senba (2-10 Sept 1947) Cont'd. ..... 3rd series - 29 May at 1500, Senba took 2000 ccs of sea water to the autopsy room. Hirako and 2-3 of his students were already there. 10 Minutes later Tashiro, Nogawa, Tsutsui, Suyama and Miki arrived with the operating equipment.

1 prisoner, Nogawa strapped him to the table. Nogawa crawled under the sheet and administered ether. Nogawa stood at the head of the table administering ether, Ishiyama was at the head to his left, Komori was on Nogawa's right.

After prisoner died, Senba took the sea water and returned to fir s t surgery with Nogawa.

On way back to Surgery, Nogawa said that the experimental operation on the brain was of no benefit at all.

4th series - Tashiro and Nogawa were in autopsy room when prisoners were brought in.

Leg artery operation - Observing the blood draining experiment were Tashiro, Suyama, and, Senba believes, Nogawa and 2-3 anatomy students.

3rd prisoner was brought in. Nogawa stood at the Prisoner's head. Nogawa administered ether and watched the Prisoner's condition during the last opera­tion (gall bladder, liver and heart).

Statement of Tsutsui (27 Aug and _ _ 1947) 2nd series - Those present who neither operated or assisted were Nogawa, Tashiro, Tsutsui, Suyama, Miki, Sato and Hirako.

3rd series - Ishiyama, Komori, Tsutsui, Suyama, Miki, Nogawa and either Hirao or Mori were present. Ishiyama stood at one side of the Prisoner's head at the side of the table, Komori opposite, Mori was beside Komori, Hirao was be­side Mori, Nogawa beside Tsutsui, Miki near Ishiyama.

Statement of Ishiyama (15 July 1946) The 2 types of epilepsy are Jackson and Genuine. Ishiyama now has 50 patients of each type. Dr. Tadao Tamura and Dr. Nobukichi Nogawa assisted in these, (experiments)
