Statement Dated (14 May 48 by McKnight)

From early June 45 to surrender, with Western Army Headquarters as Naval Liaison Officer in air defense ~ a lieutenant (j.g.). In early Jul 45 Ensign HIRAHATA joined Defendant. There was also Ensign NAKAO, Petty Officer (Naval) HASHIMOTO (who left in Jul 45) and Lieutenant (s.g.) (YAMADA?) who arrived 11-12 Aug 45.

Defendant heard the fliers disappeared somewhat after the air raid, heard they were sent to Tokyo. On 15 Aug, Defendant and HIRAHATA worked in morning, then HIRAHATA left and joined him about 1500 until 1800. At 1300, Defendant ordered him to make preparations to leave Naval quarters.

1st Class Pvt. (Naval) MURASE was in charge at wireless station at Western Army Headquarters.

Defendant then believes HIRAHATA rejoined him about 1700, not 1400 - 1500.

Defendant heard of 15 Aug execution on 18 Aug, knows nothing of participation of any Naval personnel.
