Statement of Hino (5 Nov 47). Im middle May 1945, Hino was requested by Ishiyama to transfer to a hospital in Miyazaki to replace a surgeon. On an occasion someone told Hino that a vivisection operation was performed on an American Prisoner in secret in the Autopsy Room in the Anatomy Section. A great deal of whispering was going on in the Clinic of personnel .cautioning each other to maintain secrecy. Hino heard there was a long resection by Ishiyama assisted by Hirao, Torisu, Mori and that Semba injected sea water into the Prisoner. About 15-16 May 1945, there'was a farewell party on the second floor of list Surgery from about 1700 to 1800 for Hino and Lori, which included Ishiyama, Hirao, Torisu, Morimoto, Nogawa, Semba, Kubo, Jiro Tashiro, Tomoki Tashiro, Shiotsu and probably Muka. Hino was on the right of Ishiyama, Mori on his left. Hino didn't hear anything about operations on Prisoners on this occasion. |

Statement of Semba (31 Oct-8 Nov 47). A farewell party was given for somene in the Drs Mess Hall at First Surgery ane everyone ate and drank. Ishiyama leaned forward and said "Komori is going to bring several Prisoners to the University and I am thinking of performing experimental operations on them." Everyone got drunk and the party broke up about 2130. Present at the party were Hirao, Mori, Tomoki Tashiro, Hiro Tashiro and Nogawa. |

Statement of Tashiro, Jiro (9 Oct-24 Oct 47). I On a May evening, the First Surgical Clinic dorcots had a sake party, which included Ishiyama, Torisu, Mori, Hirao, and possibly Morimoto, as the ranking doctors and Tashiro & Nogawa Semba and possibly Kubo and Tomoki Tashiro as the younger doctors, at the doctors mess hall at the University. They had such parties on several occasions. While Tashiro was some distance away from the head of the table, he heard either Ishiyama or Torisu say that there were to be some operations soon, that someone would bring the patients to the University, believes that they were said to be pilots. Before this there was a great deal of noise, but it then became quiet and serious. Several days after the party someone in First Surgery (maybe Kubo) told Tashiro there was to be an operation on a Prisoner that day. Tashiro went because he was curious and thought they might be experience. Present were: Ishiyama, Torisu, Hirao,Morimoto,Nogawa,Tomoki Tashiro, Semba, Kubo,Mori,Miki, Suyama,Tsutsui and Tashiro believes Manabe. Also Sha and Tei and Hirako case for a little while. Chief Assistant of Ishiyama was either Morimoto or Mori. |

Statement of Takeshige (16 July 47). About June (?) 1947, Mori and Wasano called "us" in, asked that they do what they could to find the ashes. Takeshige asked Sakai who was a Hirako assistant who made specimens slides. She just said that just before the American. Forces were ready to land, much of the University equipment was moved, that she had done something with the ashes at the time; that she emptied them in newspapers, burned the envelopes and left the newspaper on the desk of Hirako. |
