Manuscript of Hirako (604). With Ishiyama, Komori was the main participant in a lung, heart and brain operation. Komori was a military surgeon and the bridge between military and Kyushu University Medical College.

Statement of Morimoto (399). Komori told Morimoto of operations on POWs, including one involving a bullet wound in the shoulder. Also Morimoto assisted in an operation upon a POW by Ishiyama and Komori in the anatomy room.

Morimoto speaks of two or three POWs and two operations at the same time in the autopsy room. Komori assisted Ishiyama on the chest operation in May or June of 1945. Komori told Morimoto that the purpose was to remove a bullet and the operation was evidently an experiment.

Statement of Torisu (399). Before the second operation,Komori told Torisu that they were to remove a lung again. Torisu head Ishiyama tell Komori how difficult such an operation was. He also heard Sato thanking the group, including Komori, for the operation. According to Ishiyama either Ishiyama or Komori did the second series. Hirao told Torisu that Komori had brought more POWs, and that they had been operated upon.

Statement of Mori (399). Mori had heard that Komori gave two POWs a drug previous to the first operation. In the first lung operation Mori retracted the rib, then went to the second table to work on a partial liver rejection. [Marginal Note: ? Schwartz doesn't know what Vips could be doing. ]

Statement of Sato. (604 - 2 July). Komori was a medical probationary officer. Previous to the experimental operation he had given medical care to Sato. Komori commented on the weak condition of the POWs and suggested that they be medically treated. On 27 May Komori told Sato that he was taking one POW to Kyushu University Hospital! actually he took two. The only permission that Komori professed to have was that of Sato. Sato went into Kyushu University Hospital with Komori and at this time Komori told Sato that the POWs were to be operated upon. Only at this time, according to Sato, did he become suspicious. Komori was an assistant to Ishiyama in the operations* Komori described to Sato that the first operation was to determine the effectiveness of the salt water drug. He also said that the patient would recover (but was killed). According to Komori, the surgeons would remove one and one-half lungs [illegible marginal note] in the second operation. Upon the death of Komori, Tarisu, Ishiyama and Hirako decided to blame Komori for all the operations.

Statement of Ishiyama (604 - 16 July). On the 16th or 17th June 1945, Komori called Ishiyama for a consultation of a sea water injection of "wounded foreign soldier" - however, the patient died three hours later; surgery not being advisable. The dead POW was given another injection.
