KOBAYAKAWA [Marginal Note: (KIU) ] Statement of Kobayakawa (18 August 1947) 41, a dermatologist, entered army in 1933, became major in 1940, Lt. Col. in 1944, was attacked to the WD Medical Bureau in Tokyo in August 1943, was transferred to Eastern Army Medical Department from January 1945 to December 1945. As a member of the WD Medical Bureau Kobayakawa was part of the supervising staff for the care of wounded troops in the Hygiene Section, with Lt. Gen. Kanbayaski as his immediate superior. Kobayakawa never visited YJAH, never worked with Matsunaga, who was in Kobayakawa's department (at WD?). Kobayakawa met Yoshimura in November 1944 on a visit to Hiroshima. Ishiyama was a famous doctor, read that he committed suicide. Hoshiko worked with Kobayakawa at the WD. Not legal for army surgeons to conduct experimental operations on PWs. |
This book documents the legal proceedings of the December 1949 Khabarovsk trial in which twelve members of the Japanese Army's covert biological warfare Unit 731 were prosecuted for their war crimes.
