KAWAGUCHI, Takethoshi ATIS Translation of Statement taken by Oki 7 October 1946. 2nd Class Private in Code Section of Operations Department of Western Army from 1 August to 9 September 1945. In the first part of August Defendant went to a hill near the crematory around 0800 - 0900, saw the killing of 5 - 6 Prisoners of War around 1100 by beheading. They were naked from the waist up; believes their shoes had been removed. Defendant was about 20 meters away, put dirt over the flyers. On 15 August Defendant was a road guard about 100 meters from where 4 PWs, wearing 1-piece suits and shoes, were beheaded. About 15 - 16 August he heard 2nd Class Private SUETSUGU tell another, "I stabbed the PWs because they escaped." |
