Statement of Horiuchi (16 June and 30 July 1947) The Chief of the Medical Bureau of the War Department (Kombayashi ?) could make recommendations to Horiuchi, could not give him orders. His recommendation would first have to be submitted to the CG of WA; Horiuchi has never received an order from the CG of the Army Medical Bureau. Once a.year there was a meeting of the heads of the various Medical Departments in Tokyo, at which time the Chief would make his recommendations. Last meeting: March 1945. Lt. Gen. Hiroshi Ka(n)bayashi was chief of War Department Medical Bureau in 1944 and 1945. In March 1945 his recommendations concerned the distribution and treatment of patients brought in from overseas areas, use of medical supplies— most meetings dealth with expansion of medical facilities. Kanbayashi assigned research problems in surgery and internal medicine. |
