Statement of Ito - 6 January 1945 (420) Isa was Acting Commander of Western Army Hqs. in the middle of June 1945, when Yokoyama and members of the staff moved to Yamaie with the 16th Army on £5 June. He had no power to issue orders as the Commanding General of Western Army, but only as Commanding Officer of Western Army. He held this status until about 20 August 1945. When Ito went to Yokoyama's room the night of 20 June to ask about the false report, Isa, as well as Yokoyama, said "all right". Isa didn't seem to know about the execution. Ito told him about it.
