Statement of Tomoda (420, 16 May 47) Inouye assisted in Alginic Acid experiments— -assisted in some phases. Still at KIU. Drs. Inoguchi and Inouye of Tomoda’s surgery clinic inducted in army as PO’s first part of 1945, attached to military hospital at Western Army Headquarters until 1-2 months before surrender quartered at Agricultural College of KIU under Dr. Tsuchiya in his laboratory, beginning preparation for mass production of AA under direction-of Western Army, having begun experiments with Tomoda. On Tomoda’s suggestion Inoguchi and Inouye began production of AA, but never put in production. Inoguchi and Inouye worked in 2nd Army Hospital, Fukuoka. Tomoda told Horiuchi of research done by Inoguchi and Inouye, need of a blood substitute, and at this time Horiuchi moved the 2 PO’s to Agricultural College from the 2nd Army Hospital in Fukuoka. |

Statement of Tsuchiya (420, 16 May 47) July 1945 succeeded in making blood substitute— worked on since February. Linn, a Formosan, Inouye, Inoguchi, Miyagoshi, and 3-4 others of medical department worked on it. Inouye worked on it for about 4 weeks, with Tsuchiya. Tomoda, Inoguchi, and Inouye told Tsuchiya that AA a success in February 1945. Inoguchi and Inouye, who experimented with Tsuchiya at his room almost every AM took about 200 grains of the fiberous powder form to Tomoda, which, would be used at about 3 grains of arginate dissolved into 400-500 cc’s of physiological solution to make blood substitute. They got this AA about 7-8 times. Inouye and Inoguchi mentioned to Tsuchiya the success of AA the beginning of March 1945. Tomoda, Inouye and Inoguchi used a patient at hospital, also Inouye injected himself, Inouye and Inoguchi actually participated in experiments at Medical School and Hospital and their roans. |
