Statement of Aihara (18 Jul 46). In middle May, Sato told Aihara that certain Prisoners were to be taken to the University Medical School, to be treated for wounds, handed him a list of prisoners to be taken. [Marginal Note: no]

Aihara handed this list to Goiyama, told him that Sato said these Prisoners were to be sent to the University, that he should wait until someone-came after the prisoners. Evidently Komori had previously talked to Goiyama stating that he, Komori, had Sato's permission to take the Prisoners to the University.

Aihara believes Komori picked the Prisoners, Goiyama should know how. Goiyama was first one of the Officers' in the Officers in the Unit that had charge of the Prisoners.

The first time 1 or 2 Prisoners were taken to the University, Sato and Komori also went. Goiyama should know who accompanied the Prisoners.

Statement of Fukushima (18-25 Aug 47). Clothing, sleeping quarters and rations were handed by the Adjutant Section. Lt. Goiyama was in charge of this. Fukushima believes that Yukino and Goiyama were just responsible for care and feeding of the Prisoners and took any other orders from the Staff Section. Fukushima believes that Sato gave orders to Ohno or Aihara, and they relayed them to Yukino and Goivama.

On 8 Dec, Sato had 2 sets of notes on complete plan of the Prisoners, gave Fukushima one, Fukushinia noted Sato's notes were off 2 Prisoners, he said he didn't want these 2 reported. Report showed 2 more Prisoners sent out than received.

Fukushima checked this report with Sato, Yakumaru, Kusumoto, Yukino, Nakamura and Goiyama. But Ohno and Aihara didn’t get in until Fukushima had sent his report to CIC.

Statement of Jin (15-17 Jul 47). 1st Lt. Goiyama of the AS, was in charge of WA personnel records and Prisoners held at WAH.

Jin let Goiyama handle all this work. Jin recalls no instance where necessary to give medical care to Prisoners. Received no reports that all Prisoners were not in good health and not wounded, so believes they were. Goiyama never reported to Jin that Prisoners were being taken to the University. If they had been taken to KIU Hospital or medical purposes, this would have been reported to Jin.

If the Prisoners were to be removed permanently from Hq Prison, Goiyama would have reported this to Jin, did so report in May 45, but he doesn't remember date, number of Prisoners, destination, is very vague.

The Adjutant Section Officer for Prisoners and captured Prisoners (Goiyama, then

Statement of Kusumoto contd ... Yukino) would receive orders regarding the Prisoners directly from the Staff Section, and he would then carry them out and then report this to the Senior Adjutant (Jin) or in his absence to Kusumoto.

26 June 1945, part of Hq, went to Yamae, including Jin, Minami, Goiyama and an unknwon Capt.; Kusumoto, Yukino, in charge of the Adjutant Section duties regarding Prisoners and captured flyers, Nakamura, Oguri and 1st Lt. Nishimi who was there a short time and supervised the cleaning of Hq remained in Fukuoka.

In about the last of April 1945, Goiyama reported to Kusumoto, that about 3 Prisoners, captured flyers, had been imprisoned at WA Hq, that one was wounded in the chest or shoulder and that Komori had gone in the truck to Hakata Station- where the Prisoners were to be picked up, to treat the Prisoner with about 3 Kempei Tai. Some time after middle May Goiyama told Kusumoto that Komori acting on Sato's orders, had injected ether to a flyer and had sent him to the University the day before.

When Goiyama told Kusumoto that Komori had injected ether in the flyers and taken them to the University, Kusumoto realized that they would not return. If the flyers mere to have been given medical treatment, it would have been given at Hq, Kusumoto decided something was going to happen at the University and that there was no intention for the flyers to return, having been given ether.
